NMR

The NMR Facility (Bagley Hall 37 and 46B) includes two 300 MHz and two 500 MHz Bruker spectrometers that cater to the needs of different types of research within the Department of Chemistry as well as other University programs. In November 2011, two new high field spectrometers were installed, operating at 700 MHz and 800 MHz. The 800 MHz spectrometer is a state-of-the-art high field solution NMR spectrometer that is equipped with a cryogenically cooled probe head providing unprecedented sensitivity. The 700 MHz spectrometer is earmarked primarily for solid state NMR, but is also capable of solution NMR studies. The spectrometers have versatile capabilities that attract users from within the UW as well as commercial users from in and around Seattle. A 200 MHz two channel spectrometer is earmarked specially for student training.

 

The Chemistry NMR Facility is maintained and run by the Facility Manager and the Associate Manager in addition to other experienced and dedicated staff. Basic troubleshooting and in-house repair on instruments are performed with the active help of electronic and machine shops, to keep instrument down time to a minimum. Regular user training sessions are offered on the safe and efficient operation of spectrometers. The facility manager also provides research consultation and helps with user application requests.

Hours

The NMR Facility is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Facility personnel are available Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
