Graduate Student Travel Award Opportunity

The Department of Chemistry is pleased to announce the establishment of multiple Graduate Student Travel Awards for the 2013-2014 academic year. This award is open to all UW Chemistry graduate students that have passed the General Examination. Selected students will receive a Travel Award of up to $750 (domestic travel) or $1500 (international travel) to cover documented travel expenses to the institution where they received their undergraduate degree and present a seminar on their Ph.D. research.

In order to be considered for a Graduate Student Travel Award, students should (1) email a two-page summary of their research accomplishments which includes a list of publications and presentations (1.5 line-spacing, 10 point Arial font), (2) arrange for a letter of support from their faculty mentor. Both documents must reach Ashley Zigler, the Graduate Program Coordinator, (zigler@chem.washington.edu) before 5 P.M. on Friday, October 4, 2013. The Travel Award committee will adjudicate awards and students will be notified no later than Friday, October 18, 2013. Selected students should work with their advisor and/or the Travel Award committee to arrange for an invitation to visit and to present a seminar at their alma mater.
