A weekly seminar series providing students and faculty exposure to current research in the diverse fields of both fundamental and applied organic chemistry including many aspect of chemical biology and drug design. The invited speakers, drawn almost entirely from outside the University and the Seattle biotech community, aim to present their research results in a manner that allows non-experts to appreciate the results. Unless otherwise announced the seminars occur on Mondays in Bagley Hall room 260 (or Chemistry Building room 102) at 4PM and are preceded by an open discussion and social period, in “Rab’s room” with refreshments provided, for students to interact with the seminar speaker. In the months of Nov., Dec., and Jan., the speakers will be candidates for vacant faculty positions in the department. The topics will likely be tilted toward organic synthesis and its application to understanding biorecognition phenomena. During this period, the day of the week for the Organic Seminar will vary.
