Entrance into the chemistry and biochemistry majors is by competitive admission.
Information on admission requirements and the admission process can be found on our Admissions page. Students are welcome to make an appointment with a chemistry advisor to discuss our programs.
Below are checklists for the degree requirements of a chemistry or biochemistry major. They are in Acrobat form and require the Acrobat Reader which is available free of charge from Adobe. You can also find this material in the University of Washington's catalog information pages for chemistry and biochemistry.
The large number of students pursing B.A. and B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry has resulted in high demand for some courses required for the minor. Majors receive priority enrollment in these high-demand courses. It is strongly recommend that students consult with the advising staff before pursuing the Chemistry Minor.
