Undergraduate Graduation Information

When should I apply for graduation?

It is recommended that you apply to graduate at least two quarters in advance of your planned graduation date. The University of Washington has a special registration category, Graduating Senior Priority (GSP), which allows seniors whose graduation applications are already on file to register on the first day of the registration period for two quarters.

The latest that students can apply to graduate for a specific quarter is the third Friday of the quarter in which they plan to graduate.

Department Graduation and Awards Recognition Celebration

The Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry are pleased to announce that our annual Graduation and Awards Recognition Celebration will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 8:00-10:00 pm at the UW HUB Ballroom.

Graduating students that wish to participate in the ceremony must RSVP to our Catalyst website by May 31, 2015. We request that students limit their number of guests to six. Tickets are required for entry into the event.  Graduates need to pick up tickets from the advising office in Bagley 303 during the advising office hours (M-F 9-11:30 am and 1:30- 4pm) between the dates of June 2, 2015 and June 12, 2015.

Questions should be sent to advisers@chem.washington.edu.

Students and guests will need to arrange for their own parking. Parking on campus on Friday, June 12 will be very busy.  For this reason, students wishing to park on campus should purchase parking permits for themselves and their guests ahead of time through through the commencement order form. The order form will be available online from May 6 through May 24. http://www.washington.edu/graduation/registration/

After May 24 parking information can be found by contacting parking services:

For disability accomodations, please contact the UW Disability Services Office (206.543.6452, dso@uw.edu).

This year the Chemistry Department has decided to have to two "Commencement" speeches given by two graduating students at our celebration.  We plan on selecting one biochemistry major and one chemistry major to each give brief (around 5 minutes) commencement speeches.  If you are interested in being considered for one of the speakers, please send a one page abstract of what your speech will entail to stone@chem.washington.edu, by Friday, April 24. A committee will review the abstracts and then contact selected students who will be invited to present their speech before the committee. Students will be notified by mid-May of the Committee's decision.

Congratulations Graduates!
