The CHID Program is deeply saddened to announce that our Director, Jim Clowes, passed away on March 1, 2004, after a 7-month struggle with late-stage pancreatic cancer. We have been touched by the outpouring of support that has been shown to Jim, his family, and the CHID community. It is truly amazing and inspiring to see the impact that Jim has had on so many lives all over the world.
Many people have expressed a desire to help the family and the program.
If you would like to make a financial donation, two funds have been set up:
The Clowes Local/Global International Fund
This fund will support the administrative costs of developing collaborations on campus between local groups and programs at international sites. It will also provide for student support for participation in programs organized at these sites and for the development of new programs. Donations to this fund are tax-deductable.
The Clowes Children Education Fund
A Fidelity 529 College Savings Plan has been set up to help pay for post-secondary education for Jim's four children. This fund allows tax free withdrawal when used by the designated recipient to pay for specific educational expenses. Contributions are not tax-deductible.
