The choroid plexus generates a substantial amount of CSF. The Millen lab has identified a number of congenital defects of the choroid plexus in mice that result in hydrocephalus and is currently studying whether similar birth defects contribute to human hydrocephalus. In addition, since manipulating choroid plexus development and function may represent a new treatment approach for hydrocephalus, the Millen lab is also studying how the choroid plexus normally forms during embryogenesis.
