Addiction, Reward, Impulsivity

CIBR investigators are using a multi-level approach, combining molecular biology, anatomy, genetics, electrophysiology, brain imaging and behavioral neuroscience to understand the neural circuitry and mechanisms that contribute to the development of behaviors that are associated with addiction and reward, as well as in the processes that underlie decision-making, motivation and impulsivity. By unraveling the complexities in the neural circuits that contribute to addiction, reward and impulsivity, this work aims to have a positive impact on the development and application of treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders, including drug and food addiction, ADD/ADHD, Tourette’s Syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive disorder.
