| Welcome to the CIDR Web Site!
CIDR promotes excellence in teaching and learning through our work with faculty, TAs, and departments at the University of Washington. CIDR’s web site is organized into three primary sections: Consulting, Resources, and Events. To help you find your way around, the sidebar navigation, Search function, and access to the sitemap are available on each page. Images on the top of each page have been selected to show the diversity of learning that takes place at the University of Washington. What will your students be learning next?

Teaching Non-Native Speakers of English This Bulletin provides principles for teaching students who are not native speakers of English. Non-native English speakers at UW are a diverse group – including international students, immigrants, and students born and raised in the U.S. – and few generalizations broadly apply. Although strategies identified here are particularly relevant for students whose previous education was not conducted primarily in English, students from any background will benefit from these efforts to support their learning. |

Remembering CIDR Director Donald H. Wulff Our friend and colleague Don Wulff passed away on February 16, 2008. Don was Director of CIDR, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, and Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Communication. Don was well-known for his many roles in advancing teaching and learning throughout the university, and we will long remember him for his insightful and inclusive leadership, his wise and gracious words, his generosity of spirit, and his joyous laughter. We know that Don touched many lives, and we would like to celebrate Don’s life by collecting memories from his friends and colleagues around the world. To view the stories, reflections, and photos that we have collected, or to share memories of your own, please visit http://depts.washington.edu/cidrweb/Don/
