Working Groups

During Spring Quarter CIDR will convene a series of Working Groups on topics related to planning courses for next year.

Meetings are not planned as workshops. Rather, CIDR’s goal is to provide a forum for discussion and problem-solving among colleagues who share similar questions.

Goals for these meetings are to:

  • Provide instructors with the opportunity to raise their own questions, learn what colleagues are doing, and get feedback from colleagues on their own ideas for next year
  • Identify strategies and resources for teaching that already exist at UW and at other institutions
  • Help CIDR learn what additional resources for teaching would be useful for us to develop

Thus, we are inviting faculty and graduate students to participate in these discussions if ...

  • You are looking for ideas as you re/design classes for next year
  • You have developed useful strategies that you think colleagues might want to learn about
  • You think you would benefit from thinking through your questions with interested colleagues who are trying to solve similar problems

To plan for an ongoing conversation with the same people over the course of the quarter, we are scheduling meetings on each topic for weeks 3, 6, and 9. However, you are welcome to attend for a single discussion session.
