International Teaching Assistant Program

The International Teaching Assistant (ITA) Program is a program of the Center for Instructional Development and Research (CIDR). The ITA Program helps prepare newly appointed international TAs for their roles as graduate Teaching Assistants, and assists them while they are teaching.

The ITA Program consists of the ITA Program Workshops at the Annual TA Conference on Teaching and Learning in September and individual consultations during the TAs' first two quarters of teaching. ITA Program Staff work with TAs on a variety of topics related to teaching effectively in their departments and communicating clearly in English.

ITA Program services are individually oriented, discipline-specific, and free.

 Linqiu Wu

"Being a TA as an international student is both challenging and exciting. The TA conference I attended, the consulting service provided by CIDR, and the guidance from my mentor are extremely useful. With all this help and my own enthusiasm and efforts, I have been enjoying teaching a lot."

Linqiu Wu,
winner of the 2005/06 Dorothy M. Gilford Prize for Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student in the Dept. of Statistics
