CIDR Workshops

CIDR offers a wide variety of workshops at the Annual TA Conference on Teaching and Learning, and hosts the Quarterly Forum on Teaching and Learning for members of the UW teaching community. CIDR staff also regularly contribute to workshops at Faculty Fellows and the Institute for Teaching Excellence.

In addition, CIDR staff are available to design and conduct workshops that are tailored to meet the instructional needs of your department or program. We are also available to consult with you as you plan TA Preparation sessions, faculty retreats, or other teaching-related meetings.

CIDR consultants work closely with faculty, TAs, and other members of your department in the process of planning and conducting a workshop. This collaborative approach allows us to customize workshops to the needs and interests of participants, and to build on experience and expertise that already exist in the department.

CIDR consultants have recently worked with departments to develop and present workshops on:

  • Leading Class Discussions
  • Effective Lab Assignments
  • Developing a Teaching Portfolio
  • Working with Diverse Groups of Students
  • Challenging Classroom Situations
  • Problem-Based Learning
  • Responding to Student Writing
  • Working with TAs

If you are interested in working with CIDR to develop a workshop for faculty or TAs in your department, call 206-543-6588, or contact us by email to arrange an appointment.

Instructor feedback:
"Thank you for the wonderful discussion on Leading Discussions...I liked the way you led our discussion, and knowing you, I told the fellows to watch how you lead the discussion. There is so much information out there that it was wonderful to have the two of you distill many of the points. No one seemed anxious to leave. They were at your fingertips. I always learn so much from you."
