Social activities were important, but the CFRE also mounted effective lobbying campaigns, helping to secure passage of a state Fair Employment law in 1949.

The Christian Friends for Racial Equality played an important role in civil rights campaigns in the 1940s and 1950s.  Black churchwomen and white churchwomen worked together to highlight segregation practices in Seattle.
