Asian
student activism
Trying to force the administration to hire five Asian administrators, the Oriental Student Union staged a sit-in at Seattle Central Community College on February 9, 1971, and took over SCCC offices more forcefully on March 2, 1971.
Asian-American students mobilized
as well, defying “model minority” stereotypes and arguing for
greater visibility and equal treatment for Asian American students,
both at the University of Washington and Seattle Central Community
College.
