GeoClaw Tutorial --- CSDMS Annual Meeting

The materials for this tutorial can be found in the GitHub repository https://github.com/clawpack/geoclaw_tutorial_csdms2016.

See the README.md file in that repository to get started, particularly if you want to install Clawpack on your own laptop.

Getting started:

• If you are using a SageMathCloud project that was set up as part of the CSDMS tutorial, these materials and Clawpack 5.3.1 were preloaded on this particular project. To set some path variables properly, you should first open a terminal window and give the command
     source $HOME/SMC_setup/setup.sh
  

  See the file SMC_setup/README.md for some other information on using SMC.

• Otherwise we assume you have already installed Clawpack 5.3.1 and have cloned the repository listed above via:
     git clone https://github.com/clawpack/geoclaw_tutorial_csdms2016.git

Experiments to perform:

• chile2010a notebook describes the first set of experiments to perform to learn about running the code and using adaptive refinement.

• chile2010b notebook describes the further experiments, adding gauges.

• PTHA Tutorial shows some simulation results for Crescent City, CA from potential future tsunamis. This set of notebooks introduces some ideas of Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Assessment, developed for an M9 Project workshop in 2015. Click on "launch binder" to run the notebooks on the cloud, courtesy of the binder project.
