Working With Us

We accept applications for CLUE Instructor positions throughout the year in the following subjects: chemistry, physics, math, biology, writing, and foreign languages. We are not currently accepting applications for the Writing Center, as we are fully staffed for the 2008-2009 school year. We will contact applicants we wish to bring in for an interview. Applications can be submitted to clue@u.washington.edu. CLUE Instructors generally work between 5–15 hours per week. Pay rates depend on experience and education level.

CLUE Instructors must be current UW undergraduates or graduate students with junior or higher academic standing (exceptions are occasionally made). You must have successfully completed a first-year course sequence (i.e. Chem 142-52-62) in your interest area with a 3.4 or higher GPA in each course. We ask that you provide two references—one who attests to your subject area knowledge and another who attests to your interpersonal skills. All CLUE Instructors attend one orientation/training session each quarter and must be willing to work between 7pm and midnight, Sunday through Thursday, during the academic year.

CLUE also desires Instructors with some teaching or tutoring experience, as well as individuals who have the ability and desire to assist a diverse undergraduate population. Moreover, strong time management skills and an ability to prioritize multiple tasks are key traits of successful CLUE Instructors.

If you're interested in applying, please submit your resume and an unofficial copy of your transcript to clue@u.washington.edu with a brief statement of your interest. Please be certain that your contact information is current. Thanks for your interest in CLUE—we look forward to hearing from you!
