STUDENT SUPPORT

Though all part-time students will be self-financed, the Department of Construction Management may award financial support to a few selected full-time students in the Master and Ph.D. programs on a competitive basis. This support will be in the form of RA (Research Assistantships), for which students are required to work 20 hours per week for the sponsoring faculty advisor in support of his or her research projects.  This work is usually combined with the student's thesis or dissertation work.

Although there is no assurance that such support will be available in a particular year, faculty members in the Construction Management Department actively pursue and obtain grants and contracts from sources such as the National Science Foundation, the Construction Industry Institute, the WSDOT, and other agencies to provide funding for their projects and students, both as part of their mentoring responsibility and because such collaboration is essential for the faculty's research projects.

If you are interested in receiving financial support, the best course of action is to identify a faculty member whose research interests match yours and contact him or her directly to inquire about the availability of financial support.
