Research
Centers

The College of Education is home to a number of research centers. Our centers are designed to allow for coordinated interactions among individual researchers and research activities that create synergistic opportunities and result in substantial advancements in knowledge. In short, research centers are more than the sum of their parts.

As one example, the Center for Multicultural Education focuses on research and activities designed to improve practice related to issues of equity and achievement for all students. Through the Center’s international conferences and publication series, scholars from around the world can share their research with one another and with the broader educational community. Another of the centers affiliated with the College is the Learning in Informal and Formal Environments (LIFE) Center, which represents an interdisciplinary collaboration among the University of Washington, Stanford University, SRI International, and other institutions across the country. Within the LIFE Center, learning scientists examine learning from multiple perspectives -- ranging from neuropsychological studies of the brain, to cognitive studies of learning the classroom and sociocultural studies of learning  in the home and the community – and bring those perspectives together to paint a more coherent portrait of human learning.

We invite you to explore the listings to right and learn more about the activities of the research centers associated with the College of Education.
