Last Saturday, about 80 middle school and high school students participated in the first Yakama Nation Blast-Off Fest in Toppenish, Washington. Led by the Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium, volunteers from the University of Washington, Central Washington University and Northwest Indian College guided the students through launching foot-tall hobby rockets, building rudimentary water rockets made of empty pop bottles and shooting arrows.
