Ocean acidification: possibly more urgent than climate change?

Today’s Washington Post carries a story about ocean acidification, as an emerging climate change threat. While this issue has been known for at least a decade and probably longer, it’s lately getting a lot more play. Case in point, last week the Third International Symposium on Ocean Health in a High-CO2 World included almost 5 times the attendees as the previous event. Washington, and the College of the Environment, are leading the way to understand this insidious effect of CO2, how it plays out in marine and coastal ecosystems, and what we can do about it.
