Why These Goals for the Disciplinary Commons

• Learning (to teach) as engaged social practice.
• We sink or swim together: we share students, we mutually support the region and state.
• Deliberate reflection as key way to learn. But also to make life more meaningful by increasing the likelihood that our actions are intentional and reflect our most cherished values. (Dewey, Schon)
• "Articulation" between our institutions must be based on mutual understanding of the teaching and learning that occurs in our courses.
