Community Organizing Project

Q. What is the information I provide going to be used for?

A. The information you provide is part of a study in Community Psychology at the University of Washington Bothell. We want to better understand motivations behind civic engagement, and learn more about how people participate in the democratic process.

Q. Who will have access to the information?

A. All the information you provide will be confidential. The only people who will have access to the information are members of the research team. The information you provide will be kept in password protected computers in locked offices. Your information will be aggregated with all other community organizers’ responses and put into reports and other publications. No one will be able to identify you or any of your responses.

Q. What are some of the main aspects of the interview? What will I be asked about?

A. The interview will consist of questions about your relationships with people in your organization, and other local actors. We’d like to know why you began participating in democracy, and if there were friends or colleagues who influenced this. We will also ask you about any tactics used by power holders to discourage your participation.
