Community Organizing Project

What is the role of citizens in a democratic society? In what ways do relationships play a role in active engagement within communities? How can organizations, locally, regionally, and nationally, build the capacity to advocate for the needs of citizens? This study will explore these questions by interviewing those closest to the issues; community organizers. We are seeking interviews from community organizers (i.e. an individual whose job is to activate local citizens to advocate for shared community interests) across Puget Sound to inform us about the processes, objectives, and outcomes of democratic engagement. As such, we are looking to have conversations with organizers who fit the following:

  • Actively involved in community and social change efforts
  • Work for a local action/advocacy organization
  • Work in Puget Sound Area

We are interested in producing research which will help support the future of community organizing in the Puget Sound Area, and bolster the efforts of local leaders.
