Social Welfare and Comparative History of Ideas
I still have yet another year ahead of me, however look forward to travelling and applying my social work skills abroad, hopefully i will end up back in South Africa. Also, i am interested in pursuing a MSW focussing on international social work.
I enjoy the outdoors and often go hiking and running. However, on most occassions i find myself relaxing over a cup of coffee and good conversation with friends.
I spent most of the year last year studying abroad in South Africa, Cyprus and Lebanon (and that is why i am not graduating until next spring) :o)
I strongly dislike chocolate. But am willing to eat any other food, seriously. i will try anything.
I am taking this course because i have a great interest in the world and especially,
as stated above, international
social work. I spent a lot of time last year studying in countries that had
been, or still are, in great conflict and this class finally draws in those
aspects with a social work focus, something im extremely interested in.
I'm excited about the potential for learning it allows given that it is such a small class, but also im very excited to learn about an area of Africa i know little about and how that has impacted its people there, and especially its people here in Seattle.
The only thing i am a bit nervous about is how challenging it may be, but other than that i am not nervous about it, actually im quite excited.
