Welcome to Comparative Literature at the University of Washington!

Comparative Literature works across national and regional boundaries to explore the relationships among multiple literary traditions, and the connections of literature to other arts and fields of knowledge.

Study Abroad

Study abroad provides students with opportunities to come into direct contact with other cultures. Language proficiency, valuable international experience, and the chance to study art and literature in their places of origin are just a few of the benefits. Comparative Literature sponsors its own program (Fall Quarter in Paris) and also works with other departments such as CHID (Comparative History of Ideas). Both undergraduates and graduates are highly encouraged to incorporate travel into their studies. In addition, there is a new Summer Program in Chinese Film History and Criticism.
