Institutional policies require all members of the UW Medicine workforce to be educated about privacy, confidentiality, and security of protected health information.
New members of UW Medicine’s workforce are to be trained within 30 days of hire by:
A new workforce member with a duration of employment or study less than 30 calendar days is required to complete privacy training entitled, “UW Medicine HIPAA Temporary Workforce Member/Student Self Study,” or attest to proof of training of comparable quality at another institution by signing the form entitled, “HIPAA Training Certification.”
If an existing workforce member’s job functions changes due to new responsibilities or a position change within UW, additional training may be required. Training must be completed within the first 30 days of the workforce member’s first day in the new role or position.
