The Histology and Imaging Core (HIC) located at the University of Washington School of Medicine South Lake Union was developed as a collaborative effort between the Center for Lung Biology and the Department of Comparative Medicine (HIC Organization).  The HIC provides expertise in a broad range of histology, immunohistochemistry, imaging, image analysis and comparative pathology services. Our lab is equipped with state-of-the-art automated, histology, immunohistochemistry, digital microscopy and live-cell imaging instrumentation which allows for high throughput processing and analysis while maintaining excellent quality and reproducibility.  The staff is committed to helping investigators obtain the highest quality data from the tissues and cells used in their research.  For ongoing research projects we are willing to work with investigators to identify the most efficient way to access our services. Our services are available to all University of Washington investigators and outside institutions, (commercial and not-for-profit).

We encourage anyone interested in using our services to consult with us during the planning stages of your project to help ensure the best possible outcome.

Please contact Brian Johnson, Research Scientist, with questions or inquiries. ( 206-685-6517

For investigators preparing grant applications that will require access to the HIC, our staff can provide information for preparation of budgets as well as resource pages and letters of support.
