back Cage Card Activations next
(To Add a Cage to the Census)

For new orders:

  • Cards will automatically be activated on date animals are received.
  • The deactivation sheet for your cage cards will be placed in the Barcode Census ABSL2/3 notebook.
  • Barcoded cage cards must be placed on the animal cages in the room.

For protocol or budget transfers:

  • The old barcoded cage card is to be deactivated by locating the cage card number on the deactivation sheet in the Barcode Census notebook and dated on the day of the transfer.
  • The new barcoded cage cards’ activation strips located below the perforation are to be removed, dated with the activation date (the day after the transfer), and placed in the drop box outside the room.
  • Barcoded Cage Card on the animal cage.

For reprinted replacement cards:

  • Check to make sure barcode numbers on the reprinted card(s) match the card(s) you are replacing.
  • Dispose of old card and place reprinted card on the animal cage.
