UW FACILITY TO UW FACILITY Transfer procedures

To transfer animals between UW protocols or budgets (PROTOCOL / BUDGET):

  • Complete the Animal Protocol & Budget Transfer Request and email it to rhmp@uw.edu
  • Upon transfer approval by the Rodent Health Monitoring Program, DCM will provide new perforated cage cards. They will be available for pickup from the housing facility supervisor.
  • Deactivate the old barcoded perforated cage cards the day the transfer is effective.
    • The barcoded strip above the perforation is to be dated with the deactivation date, removed, and placed in the drop box inside the room.
  • New barcoded cage cards must be activated the day after the transfer is effective.
    • The barcoded strip below the perforation is to be dated with the activation date, removed, and placed in the drop box inside the room.

ATTENTION

  • Do not remove the old cage cards from cages until the new ones have been printed, and are placed on the cages.
  • If the old cage cards are removed before the new ones are placed on the cages, you will be charged Barcode Census Technician time for replacement of those barcoded cage cards.
  • To prevent being charged per diem on the same day twice, please make sure to write the correct dates and the activation and deactivation strips.
