  Introduction to Barcoding Why Barcoding?
Barcode Census is the creation of new breeding sheets/labels with barcodes to be placed on all cages in the facility rooms which enables easy scannings and reconcilations for a live database of animal room per diems.
  • The Barcoding Office will coordinate with Animal Purchasing to accurately determine the total number of cages in the room.
  • Barcoding Office will post a sign on the door to all PI’s and investigative staff informing of the impending change and not to remove any new cage cards.
  • Barcode Census personnel will place new barcoded cage cards, in front of any existing cards and without throwing away any existing cards, on the animal cages in the room.
  • Barcoded cage cards are not to be removed.
