To transfer animals between UW facilities (HOUSING):
- Complete the UW Facility to UW Facility Housing Transfer Request and email to the receiving facility supervisor.
- Upon transfer approval by the Rodent Health Monitoring Program and the receiving facility supervisor, DCM will provide new perforated cage cards. They will be available for pickup from the receiving facility supervisor.
- Deactivate the old barcoded perforated cage cards the day the physical transfer of cage(s) occurs.
- The barcoded strip above the perforation is to be dated with the deactivation date, removed, and placed in the drop box inside the room.
- New barcoded cage cards must be activated the day after physical transfer of the cage(s).
- The barcoded strip below the perforation is to be dated with the activation date, removed, and placed in the drop box inside the room.
To transfer animals between UW protocols or budgets (PROTOCOL / BUDGET):
- Complete the Animal Protocol & Budget Transfer Request and email it to rhmp@u.washington.edu
- Upon transfer approval by the Rodent Health Monitoring Program, DCM will provide new perforated cage cards. They will be available for pickup from the housing facility supervisor.
- Deactivate the old barcoded perforated cage cards the day the transfer is effective.
- The barcoded strip above the perforation is to be dated with the deactivation date, removed, and placed in the drop box inside the room.
- New barcoded cage cards must be activated the day after the transfer is effective.
- The barcoded strip below the perforation is to be dated with the activation date, removed, and placed in the drop box inside the room.
ATTENTION
- Do not remove the old cage cards from cages until the new ones have been printed, and are placed on the cages.
- If the old cage cards are removed before the new ones are placed on the cages, you will be charged Barcode Census Technician time for replacement of those barcoded cage cards.
- To prevent being charged per diem on the same day twice, please make sure to write the correct dates and the activation and deactivation strips.
