CLINICAL PATHOLOGY
The
UW Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory
has partnered with veterinary clinical
pathology laboratories to offer clinical
pathology services that may be used
to assess organ function, hematological
changes and microbiologic status via
analysis of body fluids and samples.
Clinical Pathology Tests
Complete blood count and differential- determines the numbers of
red blood cells (RBCs), white blood
cells (WBCs) and platelets. Cell morphologies,
ratios of the different types of WBC
and RBC parameters are also measured.
Clinical Chemistry- Clinical chemistry uses chemical processes to
measure levels certain components in
blood or urine. Test may include blood
glucose, electrolytes, enzymes, hormones,
metabolic substances, and proteins.
Cytology- The study of cells obtained from bodily fluids, scraped,
exfoliated or aspirated from a wide
range of sites in the body.
Urinalysis- The study of the components of urine both chemical and
cellular
