Department
of Comparative Medicine (DCM) has seven
centralized facilities comprising over 52,000 sq. ft
of animal housing and service areas. Three of these facilities (K-Wing, T-Wing and Sixth
Floor)
are located within the Health Sciences
Center (HSC). Center for
Human Development and Disability (CHDD) is one block away. Roosevelt is
one mile from the main facility (HSC). Harborview Research and
Training is 5 miles away. Brotman facility is 2.5 miles
away at South Lake Union. All of the
animal housing facilities are specific
pathogen free (SPF) for rodents. DCM provides for the daily care
of approximately 100,000 mice, 1,900 rats as well as a variety of
larger species.
