RESEARCH SPACE

Animal Husbandry | Research Space | Educational Resources | Animal Facilities | Office and Computer Support

The DCM laboratory space includes bench top areas and common equipment such as thermocycler machines, hybridization ovens, -80C freezers, chemical hoods, histology equipment, immunohistochemical materials, and Western blotting apparatus among others.

Laboratory facilities of 4,300 square feet in the T-wing are contiguous with the administrative offices and a fully equipped necropsy laboratory. Both clinical service and research laboratories are included in the space. The various laboratory units include capabilities in molecular biology, microbiology, virology, viral serology, hematology, parasitology, histopathology, tissue culture and monoclonal antibody procedures. Laboratories contain a wide variety of equipment necessary to support research activities, for example, a Biosaftey level-2 (BSL-2) laboratory for microbiology, and four laboratories (K-Wing/I-Court) of 205 square feet each, one procedure room of 195 square feet for genetically engineered rodent procedures (egg injection and stem cell techniques), and BSL-3 laboratories.
