Chicken brooders, finches, quail, frogs, gerbils, hamsters, salamanders, lizards, mice, rats and guinea pigs are charged on a per cage basis. All other animals are charged individually (unless otherwise noted).

Vet Tech or Res Tech Assistance, 30-minute increments, 30-minute minimum, charged when part of experimental protocol. Includes technician salary, staff benefits, and standard charge for materials; materials not separately charged for most procedures. (The cost of the preventive medical program, the diagnosis and treatment of nonexperimentally induced disease is included in the per diem charge and not charged separately).

Cost per animal covers initial health screening and identification upon entrance into facility.

Per Surgery room, 30-min minimum, includes basic pack and anesthesia; animal prep and technical assistance as time allows.

Routine Necropsy Report: includes complete necropsy and report of gross findings; species differential charge will apply. Routine Histology Report: includes preparation of histology slides, evaluation and report; species differential will apply. For diagnoses requiring additioinal slides, special staining, or decal an additional charge may be assigned.

Class 1: Bacterial Staining, PAS
Class 2: Metachromatic Stains
Class 3: Non-Neural Silver, Connective Tissue Staining
Additional charges for controls. A limited assortment of mouse and rat control slides available for purchase; please inquire.

NOTE : Animals, services and supplies sold off campus (or involving off-campus funds) are subject to an additional 15.6% University indirect cost charge. All rates are subject to change pending final administrative review.
