Admissions

Community-Oriented Public Health Practice is a track of the Master of Public Health Program in Health Services. Since the COPHP program track is built on a unique philosophy and approach, the pre-admission process is slightly different than for other MPH tracks. Please read below.

Qualities of a Successful Applicant:

We strongly recommend that applicants have at least some post-college work experience before applying to the COPHP track and suggest that current undergraduate students carefully consider that before applying.

Preference will be given to applicants who can show they have made an effort to learn about the program and the PBL method, and who can demonstrate how their life and work experience prepare them for this unique way to learn.

Following the pre-application steps below is critical.

Step 1:   Research Whether COPHP and PBL Is Right for You

Learn as much as you can about the PBL method and expectations of the COPHP program. Please read through our sections on the Challenge of PBL and our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Step 2:   Contact or Visit Us

If you think you may be interested in applying, please contact us and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about the program.

We strongly recommend that you visit a PBL-class session if you are able to travel to Seattle. For those who cannot make the journey, we hope to have video segments of actual PBL sessions on our website soon, so please check back here for updates.

Step 3:   Once You've Decided to Apply

Contact us to schedule a telephone conversation with a COPHP faculty member. By talking with a faculty member and current students, we hope it will become clear whether or not COPHP is right for you.

Step 4:   Begin Your Application

When you're ready to begin your application to the Public Health - Health Services - Community Oriented Public Health Practice (MPH) please follow the application process at:
