Third Annual
Cascadia Critical Geographies
Mini-Conference

October 25, 2008
University of Washington Tacoma

While originally planned as a two-day event, the schedule has been changed in order to fit all content into one day, Saturday, October 25. The conference will begin at 10am and end at 6pm. This schedule should still provide plenty of time for social interaction while also covering a wide array of topics.

The conference will be held on the UW Tacoma campus, in room BHS 106.

Critical geographers engage the world through research, scholarship, teaching, activism, and any other means that can mobilize key geographical ideas to challenge conventional wisdoms and accepted ways of thinking and being. The purpose of this mini-conference is to bring together scholars from throughout the Cascadia region to share critical ideas about pressing challenges, new and old, and to discuss, debate, and envision promising new futures.

The Urban Studies Program at the University of Washington Tacoma is proud to be hosting the Third Annual Cascadia Critical Geographies Mini-conference. As in years past, the emphasis here is to create a friendly, engaging, and fun space for critical geographers to share their work. We welcome papers and panel proposals from across the field of geography (human, physical, G/SIS), and from spatially oriented scholars in other disciplines. The mini-conference is open to both graduate students and faculty members. There is no fee for attending or participating.
