Leadership 1000 Scholarship Leadership 1000 Logo

The goal of the Leadership 1000 Scholarship Program is to provide four-year college scholarships to economically disadvantaged students on an ongoing basis. This is a custom designed program for individuals, families, businesses and civic organizations who want to get involved and support low-income students by providing scholarship funds. Benefactors sponsor specific students and commit to funding a four-year degree.

This program offers families, corporations and small businesses the opportunity to support a specific student with an average investment of $5,000 per year for four years. Benefactors can put the scholarship in their family name or company name to recognize their contribution and if they wish, get to know their student.

The program is flexible so that benefactors may establish specific parameters such as a particular high school or ethnic group. For example, one benefactor expressed an interest in providing four-year scholarships to young African American men graduating from Garfield High School, planning to enroll at the University of Washington. In this instance, we collaborated with both Garfield High School and the University of Washington to identify candidates who met these criteria and to ensure that they were college ready. The lives of these young men have been changed forever, and they can look forward to careers and a standard of living that they once thought impossible.
