 I don't know why this is happening, but removing those directories seems to help. I've seen the problem happen a few different ways, requiring different subsets of those files to be removed before it's resolved, so removing all of them should do the trick.  +My current thinking is that it might be related to the different versions of RHEL in the labs. It seems to be pretty safe to log in to multiple machines of exactly the same type and version simultaneously,​ but I'm not sure what happens if, say, you're logged into a 32-bit RHEL5 and a 64-bit RHEL6 system at the same time. Further investigation is required.
