The Catalyst Group is made up of a small, dedicated staff to meet the teaching and technolgy needs of professors and staff at the University of Washington.  

Work on Catalyst began in 1998 as UWired engaged UW educators in conversations about the hopes and challenges of using technology in teaching. Initial concept development began in winter 1998. Software testing and the development of documentation began in spring 1998. Faculty focus groups were held in early summer 1998 to gather specific information on the instructional wants and needs of faculty.
