[Photo of surgeons performing a lap nissen fundoplication]The University of Washington Center for Videoendoscopic Surgery (CVES) is a multi-faceted program centered at the University of Washington campus in Seattle. CVES is dedicated to providing a highly collaborative education and training environment in the area of minimally invasive surgery. Technical training is conducted in the new CVES laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility situated in the Magnuson Health Sciences Building at the University of Washington.

The CVES is dedicated to the research and development of new minimally invasive surgical techniques. Our multi-disciplinary research and training program is conducted by University of Washington Department of Surgery faculty with a special academic and clinical interest in minimally invasive surgery. These talented surgeon-scientists further the research and development of new minimally invasive surgical techniques as well as training residents, fellows, and practicing surgeons from around the world.

CVES was established in participation with United States Surgical, a division of Tyco Healthcare. Our Center has a Fellowship, and a dedicated laboratory for videoendoscopic procedures. The CVES laboratory is equipped with audio and video links to our conference room and operating room, and eventually to other Centers across the country.

CVES offers a wide variety of courses in basic and advanced minimally invasive techniques. Individual and special group instruction is also available.
