C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S :  To Wesley Van Voorhis, Matt Golden and Carey Farquhar, who recently were

Who Have Sex with Men;” and Carey’s study, “HSV-2 Suppression among HIV-1 Infected Pregnant Women to

F R E E    C O N S U L T I N G :  The Departments of Biostatistics and Statistics offer free statistical consulting
services.  The service is offered all four quarters and is staffed by graduate students from the two department with
faculty supervision.  This service provides assistance with the design of studies and experiments, advice on data
visualization and presentation, and assistance with the choice and application of statistical methods.  Free advice is
provided through scheduled one hour consulting sessions.  Appointments can be provided via
    http://www.stat.washington.edu/consulting/    or contact Biostatistics 543-1044, barbj@u.washington.edu; or
    Statistics 543-0403, Cheryl@stat.washington.edu

G H O S T       A U T H O R S H I P      P O L I C Y :  Ghost authorship occurs when a third-party writes or makes
substantial changes to an article, ostensibly authored by an academic, without being listed as an author or included in
the acknowledgments.  The third-party may represent (or be hired by) a company or organization with a vested interest
in the topic.  The School of Medicine’s Policy Statement regarding Ghost Authorship states that UW SoM faculty,
trainees, students, and staff may not serve as authors on any publications in which ghost authorship has occurred.

A N I M A L S :  When IACUC review is required, the Animal Care Committee needs a hard copy of the proposal
even when the proposal is submitted electronically.

S A G E :  Do’s and Don’ts of attaching documents to eGC1s in SAGE classes are being offer throughout the summer.
See http://www.washington.edu/research/oris/sage/training_details.php to find a class that fits your schedule, or email
ORIStraining@u.washington.edu to arrange onsite training for your group.  For more information, please contact
Toyin Akisanya, ORIS Training Specialist at 206-616-9096.

R E C Y L I N G :  Used ink cartridges for printers and copies will now be recycled by UW Recycling (instead of
University Stores).  See:  http://www.washington.edu/admin/recycling/procedures.html@Cartridges.  Put your old
cartridge into the box that your new cartridge came in and when you have 6 cartridges to recycle, complete a
request (see website for form).  Do NOT put cartridges in the hall, and do not mail them.
