I am Yup’ik Eskimo, and I grew up in the Lower Yukon Village of Emmonak. I am the youngest of 7 children. I grew up living a tradition subsistence lifestyle both in Emmonak and my mom’s hometown: Scammon Bay. Most of my summers were spent at our family fish camp. I enjoy berry picking, going out boating (when I’m lucky enough to be home on the Yukon), fishing, going on long snowmobile rides and hunting. I also enjoy sewing traditional quspeqs, beading and crocheting. I am married and have two daughters Larissa, and Ruby. We enjoy gardening and preserving our own food for the long winters in Alaska. I have worked for the AK Dental Health Aide Therapist Program since May 2008 and recently became the program manager. I continue to take classes to further my education, and am enrolled in ANTHC’s Pathway to Leadership Program, and am currently enrolled in a Certified Public Managers Program through distance delivery. I am also enrolled in an independent study program to earn my Associate’s in Health Care Administration. Prior to working at ANTHC I lived and worked in the Bethe and some of the past careers I had are: Human Resources Manager, Developmental Disabilities Care Coordinator, and also as a Children’s Services Coordinator.
