  RESEARCH DAY

Research Day is an annual event held by the UW School of Dentistry to recognize its standing as a national leader in dental research. The event consists of a morning oral session - including a one-hour keynote speech and several shorter faculty presentations - and an afternoon poster session. Faculty and graduate student posters are included among those from undergraduate students involved in the short-term training Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program.

The arrangement of the morning session is usually thematic. Recent themes have included "Oral Health Disparities," "Cementum and Bone in Oral Health," and "Collaborations of the University of Washington School of Dentistry and the Washington Dental Service in Clinical Dental Research."

Research Day 2009 will be held on Friday, September 25th. The oral session will begin at 8:15 a.m. in Health Sciences T-625, followed by the poster session in South Campus Center 316 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The keynote lecture will be given by Dr. Pamela Robey, Branch Chief of the Craniofacial and Skeletal Diseases Branch of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), National Institutes of Health. The keynote address will be followed by a series of short presentations by School of Dentistry faculty members and a poster session held in the South Campus Center.

Poster Session Research Day 2009 will feature posters by students involved in summer research projects through the UW School of Dentistry's training grants, as well as those by faculty and graduate students.
