Study Abroad / ExchangeCollaborative Program in IndiaIn the context of collaborative clinical trials conducted at the MGR Medical University's Mother-to-Infant HIV-1 Transmission (MTCT) Center in Namakkul, India, we propose to train 4 students (undergraduates, medical students, medical residents, junior faculty or postdoctoral fellows) each year for a total of 20 over five years. The training program would include a core HIV-1 curriculum focusing on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, medical complications associated with immunodeficiency, and on the design and conduct of clinical trials and statistical analyses applicable to these studies. Subsequently, individualized training tailored to the student will be conducted on a one-to-one basis and will focus on the design and conduct of a clinical trial or on laboratory assays necessary to support the trial.
