Our mission is to identify continuing education needs in environmental
and occupational safety and health and to provide short courses and
conferences for industrial hygienists, nurses, physicians, safety professionals,
environmental health professionals, and others with interest in occupational
and environmental safety and health.
We also coordinate the Department of Environmental Health's effort to
assist other institutions and agencies by providing curriculum materials
and consultation for course development and to increase awareness and
understanding of occupational and environmental safety and health issues
throughout the region, across the nation and around the world.

Occupational Knowledge
International
Occupational Knowledge International (OK International) works to build
capacity in developing countries to identify, assess, monitor and remediate
environmental and/or occupational exposures to hazardous materials in
order to protect public health and the environment. OK International
pursues these goals through training programs, technical assistance and
an audit/certification program.
Kiddies Rehab International
Foundation
Kiddies Rehab International Foundation is a non-profit organization that
increases the accessibility of paramedical (occupational-, physical – and
speech therapy) information in the field of disabled child development
for people working with this target group throughout the world.
One of the major strengths of the training program is its ability to
provide in-depth research training experience through the Occupational
Epidemiology and Health Outcomes Program. Trainees have an opportunity
to participate in ongoing research conducted by the Occupational Epidemiology
and Health Outcomes Program, or perform special studies using the extensive
workers' compensation claims database available through this program.
While giving emphasis to research on the delivery of occupational health
care services through the workers' compensation system, the program also
provides opportunities for field-based research on traditional occupational
health and safety issues. Organizational partners that provide sites
for field-based research include the Boeing Company, The Weyerhaeuser
Company, and the Safety and Health Assessment and Research Program (SHARP)
within the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.

Occupational Safety and Health Information Center (CIS)
CIS is the knowledge management arm of the InFocus Programme on Safety
and Health at Work and the Environment safe work. Its goal
is to ensure that workers and everyone concerned with their protection
have access to the facts they need to prevent occupational injuries and
diseases. CIS continuously monitors world literature on occupational
safety and health through its contacts with publishers and with 136 focal
points ("CIS Centres") at the national or regional level. Summaries
and citations of the most useful publications, as well as products based
on the collected information, are disseminated electronically and in
print. The network of CIS Centres contributes to the exchange of information
among persons responsible for the establishment and implementation of
national policies and programmes. CIS was founded in 1959 as a
joint endeavour of the ILO, the International Social Security Association,
the European Coal and Steel Community and the occupational safety and
health authorities of 11 European countries. The original 11-member network
of National Centres has grown to cover 120 countries all over the world.
In many countries, Collaborating Centres complement the National Centres,
and the Arab Occupational Health and Safety Institute of the Arab Labour
Organization became the first Regional Centre in 2004. With the evolution
of European institutions, CIS now enjoys the support of the European
Commission. The menus to the left provide access to the full range
of CIS databases and publications. They also link to details about the
programme and budget of the CIS, its network of Centres and a number
of occupational safety and health information sources inside and outside
the ILO.
