"Rash" Predictions on Global Health

At the May 1 Town Hall Seattle event on global health and journalism, guest speaker Donald G. McNeil, Jr., with The New York Times, offered the following predictions on global health. Due to popular demand, the predictions are being reprinted here with his permission. Read on.

Town Hall Forum on Global Health Journalism and Premier Journalism Conference a Success

More than 275 people gathered May 1 at Town Hall Seattle to listen to two of the nation’s prominent science journalists – Brenda Wilson from NPR and Donald G. McNeil, Jr. of The New York Times -- talk about the issues they face in covering stories in the field, including being critical of large global health programs and funding organizations, and their predictions in global health. The Town Hall forum was taped by the Seattle Channel and will be available soon (details to follow).The event, sponsored by the Washington Global Health Alliance, kicked off a two-day global health and journalism conference held at the University of Washington.
