Funding ResourcesBecause our program has limited funds, we encourage applicants to start seeking outside resources to cover academic expenses as soon as possible. Please plan to take responsibility for identifying and applying for financial aid; do not wait to be offered admission before investigating funding. Although the department does not currently have many research or teaching assistant (RA/TA) positions to offer, numerous RA/TA opportunities are available on campus. Please note that second year domestic students are eligible for in-state tuition if residency is established upon arrival in Washington. Tuition waivers are available for international applicants on a limited basis. Refer to Understanding Washington State Residency. Aside from tuition and living expenses, consideration should also be given to the additional expense for travel if preference is for thesis research work to be done in another country.
