Seattle Dermatological Society

The Seattle Dermatological Society (SDS) started in the 1960's as a forum to promote continuing education and exchange of ideas regarding patient care. Because of this emphasis on education, the SDS has always had a close partnership with the UW Division of Dermatology. Currently, SDS and UW Division of Dermatology work together to bring continuing education components to the Society's monthly meetings. This includes education both in the form of lecture and of patient presentation and discussion.

Seattle Dermatologic Society Meetings are held at Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC) in the Volney Richmond Auditorium on the first floor of the Lindeman Pavilion (1201 Terry) in Seattle, Washington.  Please see The Seattle Derm Schedule, or the Seattle Dermatologic Society website (click here) for meeting dates.  The meeting format is:

Lecture 4:30 - 5:30 pm
Patient Presentation 5:30 - 6:30 pm
Patient Discussion 6:30 -7:30 pm
Business Meeting 7::30 - 8:00 pm
No-host dinner at local restaurant 8:00 - 10:00 pm

Patient presentations are held in the Dermatology Clinic at VMMC from 5:30-6:30 pm immediately following the lecture.  Physicians should complete a patient protocol form  for each patient they plan to present and bring 10 copies to the meeting.  Patients should be instructed to arrive in clinic a few minutes prior to 5:30.  Driving directions and map to VMMC should be provided to patients who will be presented.

Physicians who plan to present a patient should notify Betsy Williams 5-10 days in advance of the meeting.  This will allow time to try to recruit additional patients if need be.  Email or call 206-543-1592.
