Clinical Research Interests

Contact dermatitis, occupational skin disorders.

Dr. Welch sees patients in the Dermatology Contact Dermatitis Clinic at Harborview Medical Center. This clinic offers comprehensive evaluations of suspected contact dermatitis and occupational skin disorders. These conditions include contact urticaria, allergic or irritant contact dermatitis, and latex allergy. The clinic receives referrals from Washington state, Alaska, and other states. If indicated, patch testing is available, with various specialized panels of antigens. The clinic’s patch testing antigens on hand number in the hundreds and more antigens can be obtained if needed. Additionally, evaluations can be coordinated with the Occupational Medicine Clinic at Harborview if there is a question of occupationally related conditions involving other organ systems.

The easiest way to make a referral to the Dermatology Contact Dermatitis Clinic is to call or FAX at the above numbers and ask to have a referral sheet FAXed or mailed to you. This referral sheet can then be completed and FAXed or mailed back to the clinic. The patient is then contacted by the clinic, a brief interview is performed, and then an appointment is scheduled.
